updating of our population projections and housing needs for
our updated Official Community Plan. The Community Council
definitely provides insight and research into our region

Living Colours Quality of Life Survey results released
April 21, 2009 - The Community Council took part in the public event Living Colours: A Spirit Spectacular, held at the Victoria Conference Centre on February 15th. At the event honouring Spirit of BC week, dozens of community arts, service and sports organizations provided interactive venues showcasing their work. This included the Community Council showcasing the research activities of the organization.
At the event, survey participants were asked for their definition of quality of life before one was provided to them. The following is a small sample of the thoughtful definitions that were provided:
- Work life balance, good income, comfortable and safe living conditions
- Good health, sustainable wages, supportive friendships, engaging in the community
- Health, community involvement, employment, retirement opportunity
The top three areas that people would like to see addressed this coming year to help with their own quality of life were community affordability, health and community safety and work (each selected by approximately 50% of the respondents). The top three areas to address for their community’s quality of life were community affordability (73%), work and transportation options (44% apiece).
