About the Initiative

the Power and Potential of Social EnterpriseThis program of the Community Social Planning Council gives young people in the Capital Region the opportunity to learn about creating sustainable communities; create or scale up enterprises that create employment and contribute to community social, economic and environmental well-being; and work with mentors to gain valuable experience in sustainable community development and includes:

  • Education and engagement with young people on community economic development and community entrepreneurship, including workshops on: supporting the local economy, an introduction to Community Economic Development, and the foundations of community entrepreneurship.
  • Policy dialogue with stakeholders on how we can create a more enabling environment for sustainable community economic development in the region.
  • Network development for peer learning and business development with young and community entrepreneurs in the region.

Webinar Series

Throughout March 2013, we ran a successful webinar series on Youth Social Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the Canadian CED Network. The webinars are an opportunity to learn about how young people and youth serving organizations are using social enterprise in creating sustainable livelihoods and are a change to reflect on the successes and challenges of operating successful and well-functioning youth-led and youth serving social enterprises. You can listen to the recordings of the series here:
