- Just Released: 2014 Living Wage for Greater Victoria is $18.93/hour.

2014 living wage calculation: you need to work almost two full-time minimum wage jobs just to make ends meet in Greater Victoria. “The living wage is an important tool to illustrate the problem of child poverty and working poverty in Greater Victoria,” says Rupert Downing, Executive Director of the Community Social Planning Council. “It calls on employers to pay wages that reflect the actual costs of living in our community, and policymakers to step up to the plate to protect affordability for everyone.”

- A Wonderful Evening of Savouring Social Change

Thank you to everyone who attended or supported our first annual mystery dinner fundraiser.  It was great to connect with everyone, and celebrate our work to strengthen communities in our region, and address our social challenges.

The Community Social Planning Council is a vital resource to social change and innovation, and we can’t continue to lead that work without community support.  We raised over $10,000 from this event, and enjoyed connecting with our many partners, supporters and colleagues from all sectors and parts of our region.

The staff and board of the the Community Social Planning Council wish you a peace and joy this holiday season.
