This September 24-30, you are invited to meet Rankin MacSween, one of the founders of the Community Economic Development movement in Canada and of the first Community Investment Fund in the country. 

MacSween’s visit is an opportunity for our region to learn from his leading expertise in community investing and springboard that knowledge into action across British Columbia. During his visit to Victoria, he will meet with government, business, community, academic, and social movement colleagues as well as members of the public.

We invite you to meet Rankin at one of three pubic events being planned during his trip to Victoria and encourage you to help spread the word. The dates and location of these events are:

Wednesday, September 24

9:30-11:00am

The Inaugural Annual General Meeting and Launch of the Vancouver Island Community Investment Fund, at the Burnside Gorge Community Centre

Wednesday, September 24

11:30am-1:30pm

The Community Social Planning Council’s Annual General Meeting, at the Burnside Gorge Community Centre.  The luncheon is $35 or free to members of the Community Social Planning Council.

Thursday, September 25

5:30pm-7:30pm

A Public Forum on Investing in Community hosted by the Institute for Studies & Innovation in Community-University Engagement, University of Victoria. Event will be at the University Club.
